People who know me may be suprised to hear I am training for the Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon. I am excited to get people involved in supporting me in this adventure. A friend introduced me to Love Runs which is a local group that raises funds to stop human trafficking. My goal with this campaign is to make an impact and raise awareness for human trafficking.
While it is hard to imagine, human trafficking is something that is happening all around us in Michigan and in the United States. As a social worker I have personal experience seeing what this modern day slavery can do to individuals, families, and communities. This is why Love Runs' mission is so important to me.
Love Runs focuses on the number 1440. This is the number of minutes in every day that a human trafficking victim is enslaved, and the same number of minutes we are free. What will you do with it? Join us in the fight to end human trafficking in Metro Detroit.
Please consider donating to this cause and supporting me in raising awareness for human trafficking through Loves Runs and of course my journey to 13.1 miles!
