Dear neighbors, friends and supporters of #NoLNGinPVD –
Since the summer of 2015, the No LNG in PVD Coalition has been in a David and Goliath struggle to stop National Grid from building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) “liquefaction facility” in the Southside of Providence. With very limited resources but lots of determination and love for our communities, we’ve been knocking on doors, winning political support, and intervening in the alienating state and federal permitting processes. Our efforts have already put National Grid one year behind schedule, and they don’t have any of the required permits for the project – yet…
This campaign is about to heat up fast, and we need your help to raise $10K in 2 weeks! Final decisions from two state agencies and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) are right around the corner, and we need to hire an environmental lawyer who can take on National Grid’s army of suits. We also need to support our dedicated campaign coordinator Monica Huertas, who lives less than ¼ mile from the LNG tank and is putting in countless hours leading the charge against environmental racism. Climate Justice is won at the local level by supporting frontline communities, and right now is when we need your support most.
