As many know, commuting in Los Angeles is a fact of life. However, many refugees are unable to purchase cars to make their commutes easier.
Please help us to reach (or better yet, exceed!) our goal of $2500. Funds raised through this page will be used toward bikes and other transportation needs for refugees and immigrants in LA. Your support will help them get to important appointments, interviews, and their new jobs!
As a GenR LA chapter leader, I've had the pleasure of working alongside fellow influential humanitarians who have joined forces with our local IRC office in Los Angeles to help people survive conflict and disaster and rebuild their lives. Please consider lending your support to make a real difference in the lives of IRC clients in Los Angeles.
IRC GenR LA Volunteer Chair
IRC - Los Angeles (Donation Beneficiary)The IRC in LA has been in operation since 1975 when large numbers of Vietnamese refugees began arriving on the West Coast. Over the years, the Los Angeles office has worked with refugees from many countires, including Iran, Bosnia, Syria, and the Former Soviet Union. At present, the IRC LA office resettles refugees from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar (Burmese), North Korea, Cambodia, and Central American Minors from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
Our work provides opportunities for refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, survivors of torture, and other immigrants to thrive in America. These individuals have survived against incredible odds. The IRC works with government bodies, civil society actors, and local volunteers to help them translate their past experiences into assets that are valuable to their new communities. In Los Angeles and other offices across the country, the IRC helps them to rebuild their lives.
Thank you so much for your support and contribution for this important cause.
