In recent years the priority for community colleges has shifted from access to success. This shift has resulted in colleges exploring innovative ways to assure that barriers which prevent students from completing their educational goals are decreased or eliminated. In December 2014, the Foundation reached out to college employees to assist with establishing the Student Success Fund with that objective in mind.
The Student Success Fund provides immediate financial assistance to help currently enrolled students, attending one of the five OCC campuses, through emergency situations which are impeding their ability to continue their education. Emergency situations involve circumstances which are beyond the student's control, such as an accident, loss of income, illness, or unanticipated educational expenses. Students must have exhausted all other sources of funding before applying for this program.
