The Oakland County Bar Foundation has funded more than 25 organizations that provide critically needed legal assistance to families and children, to vulnerable adults and to members of our community who need help. We also support organizations that  foster an understanding of the law and our legal system, and improve the accessibility and affordability of legal services.

With your help, these organizations

  • assist families with seriously ill children in addressing legal problems so they can focus on helping their child become healthy

  • provide assistance to low-income citizens to help them stay in their home, obtain a job or pay a debt on a schedule they can afford

  • help people addicted to drugs get appropriate treatment to avoid becoming more involved in the criminal justice system

  • help victims of domestic violence find safety, obtain protection orders and protect their legal rights

  • assist low-income residents who need a divorce, need help with cutsody disputes or who want more parenting time with their children

  • help the families of developmentally disabled adults understand their legal rights and protections.

We fund organizations that increase our understanding of the law and of our rights and responsibilities under the law. Organizations that

  • help high school students gain a broad perspective of the law and see the potential for a legal career

  • help elementary children experience the judicial system first-hand through participation in a mock trial performed in an actual courtroom, or coach high school students through a mock trial competition

  • spend a day with our senior citizens in their local senior center helping them to untangle the world of elder law, wills and estates, and Medicare

Your contribution to the Oakland County Bar Foundation helps us to support these organizations and deliver valuable services to the citizens of our community.  Your contribution of as little as $5.00 helps a high school student attend Youth Law Day. $100 helps us fund a mock trial; $1,000 helps us fund a  senior's law day.

Programs we have supported in the past include: Adams-Pratt Law Library, Beaumont Hospital Legal Aid for Children and Families,  Care House - CASA Program, The Child Abuse & Neglect Council, CLEO, Constitution Day, Elementary Mock Trials, Estate Planning Clinics, Family Law Assistance Project of Lakeshore Legal Aid and Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, Freedom House, Generation of Promise, Haven, JARC, Just the Beginning Foundation, Legal Aid and Defender, Michigan Civic Center for Education, Oakland County Bar Association Public Service Projects, Patriot Week, University of Detroit Mercy Mobile Law Clinic and Immigration Services Projects, Warriors Trust Fund, Troy Historical Society.
