Halfway There! Just Two or Five More Brave Souls Needed
June 01, 2016
It's been some time since we've talked but I'm as committed as ever to our Democracy and I need your help! Are you "with Her", is America not great or already great in your opinion or are you feeling the burning sensation for an inclusive and open Democracy? No matter how you answered this question this is the project for you to fund. I'm working as the national coordinator/ED of the Artists Alliance For Democracy (Weartpower.org), a non profit org I founded because I am appalled by the electioneering we've all witnessed from New York to Arizona and Nevada during this primary process and because I know that the people who created the problem are not invested in giving the American people any substantive solutions. I've agitated, aggravated and exposed corporate leaning Democrats, Republicans and "Progressives" who have developed a talented penchant for selling policy outcomes and votes to the highest bidder. I serve as an Alameda Elections Clerk for Alameda County where the city of Oakland, CA is located. What I've learned and what I want the public to know is that there are easy ways to fix our broken elections and campaign finance system but we need to sustain organizations and individuals who are independent minded and passionate enough about democracy to make the arguments and challenge the status quo that manipulates true political expression. My friend, I am independent and I am passionate about Democracy in America. With a contribution of just $10, $25 or $50, you can fund a voter education project aimed at promoting election reforms such as publicly financed campaigns, non partisan congressional districts and automatic voter registration upon a citizen's eighteenth birthday. Additionally, with generous support from individual funders the AAFD will also design and implement voter/democracy education programs for Oakland schools and communities without a specific preference on targeting by race, gender, language ability, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, socio- economic status or level of education. We want whoever cares about the role they can play in making civic participation cool again, to have a place at the AAFD. I organize artists, educators, activists and small business leaders who are interested in public policy outcomes that affect the quality of our Democracy and which are reshaping our quality of life today and for future generations. But I need your help. Will you give a gift to Democracy today?
