BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Jun 07, 2015
I have just been granted an amazing opportunity, but need YOUR HELP! I have been accepted as a Field Representative and will be traveling to Tamale, Ghana with Saha Global this June. As a Field Representative I need to raise funds for the startup cost of a solar panel charging center. My task will first be to communicate this project and facillitate discussions with the community and see if it something they are interested in adopting. Then I will partner with community-appointed women to build and start these solar-charging centers that they will use to create businesses to give their communities electricity! I am extremely excited about this opportunity and need to complete fundraising by May 26th so any amount helps! Thank you so much for your support.
Why Solar Business?
Only 10% of Saha's partner villages have electricity. Most people rely on Kerosene lamps that release harmful black carbon.
Saha has created 8 solar businesses have brought 463 families a source of renewable energy to light their homes!
How will your donation help?
100% of your generous donation will go towards in-country equipment to build, monitor and maintain this solar panel charge center and provide the females of the village the initial infrastructure to run a profitable solar charging business. This includes:
- 100-Watt solar panels connecting to a Burro Genset, which houses a charge controller
- 1,200 Watt battery and 600 Watt inverter
- Lanterns to each household, which uses the rechargeable batteries from the new business.
- Follow-up and Monitoring for a minimum of 5 years
What is Saha Global?
Saha Global is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that partners with rural communities in developing countries to establish sustainable social businesses that provide basic services, like water and electricity. These businesses are owned and operated by women in the communities they serve, and use simple, affordable technologies that can be easily found on site. The maintenance and operation of these businesses is funded by revenue from the business sales, while the capital necessary to establish them is generated from fundraising activities. All businesses implemented by Saha Global to date are currently in operation, providing necessary clean water and electricity to residents and providing a small income for the women who run them.
