Imagine a storm with damages exceeding $37 billion dollars and over 72,000 homes damaged or destroyed. Now imagine there was not enough money from insurance or government assistance to repair the damage. This is the New Jersey Coastline! Nearly five years have passed and thousands of our neighbors are still not back home or are returning to homes that are still damaged and possibly unsafe.
Here we are almost five years later and there is still much work to do and we need your help to do it. Please consider making a donation to rebuild our beautiful coastline and restore the lives of our neighbors.
When Superstorm Sandy hit the Jersey Shore, Ocean County was the most affected, leaving thousands displaced from their homes. OCLTRG supports households impacted by disaster struggling to recover and rebuild. While Disaster Case Management and an Unmet Needs Table are the typical cornerstones for Long Term Recovery Groups, OCLTRG has evolved, adapted and set a new standard for providing disaster recovery assistance by building partnerships and collaborating to provide Recovery Workshops and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Claim Review assistance. In addition, OCLTRG has become a leading advocate for systemic change at both the State and Federal levels to address policies that hinder recovery and allow abuse within the recovery framework. While we were initially providing services within Ocean County, services have been extended to other impacted areas within New Jersey as other Disaster Case Management and service organizations ceased operating.
