Turtles are really, really cute.
Sure, they are super old (swam with dinosaurs), really important in maintaining ecosystems, even economically beneficial to coastal tourism. I mean, I would pay (and have!) to see these cuties while diving.
So, yes, my first instinct is to save them because they are adorable. But once you get the whole story, you realize that saving turtles is actually important for the whole ocean. They keep corals clean, provide food, and contribute to coastal tourism.
Oceana is working on sea turtle protections by safeguarding their habitats and fighting accidental capture in fishing gear. They are a Guide Star 4-star ranked charity, so you know your donation is going to good use.
But seriously, how cute?
