Oceana is the largest international organization working solely to protect the world’s oceans. With help from more than 500,000 supporters and offices on three continents, we work to save the oceans through science-based policy work.
With the help of our activists, scientists, and supporters, we have been able to make concrete differences for the oceans. While our grassroots activists in Belize work to keep offshore oil drills out of their barrier reef, our scientists in Europe are documenting the health of the Baltic Sea and supporters in the United States are turning to their local governments to protect sharks from finning. Working together, we can save the oceans from further destruction.
Since 2001, we have protected over 1.2 million square miles of ocean and innumerable sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and other sea creatures. We focus on select campaigns where we can make a difference, including clean energy, responsible fishing, and pollution.
Oceana’s work has led to many victories for the oceans over the past 10 years, including passing the Shark Conservation Act in the United States, banning destructive bottom trawling in Belize, and creating the world’s fourth largest marine reserve in Chile. With your support, we can keep up the fight.
