NEW WEBSITE ... NEW GOALS for 2017
March 01, 2017
MY STORY ...
Since having a 32-pound tumor found on her left kidney, my mom has been and is currently fighting sarcomatoid renal cell cancer ... She has endured three surgeries to remove the initial tumor, her left kidney, and two sets of additional tumors ... Currently, she is on her fourth drug protocol, a PD1 inhibitor recently approved for renal cell carcinoma which we hope will shrink the three tumors currently in her body ... She is expected to be on this drug protocol for 6-8months ...
This is the reason I decided to become an Ocean of Hope ambassador for 2016 ... So I could dedicate my training and racing to my hero -- my mother, Suzanne.
To show my support for my mom, as well as others affected by cancer, I will be paddling different watercraft -- outrigger canoe (OC1/ OC6), SUP, and prone -- throughout the upcoming 2016 year.
My goal is to compete in and complete the Catalina Classic prone paddleboard race in August 2016.
Thank you for supporting me and helping me reach my fundraising goal. If you can donate, please do; every little bit helps cancer patients gain access to medical care and specialists.
Thank you to my sponsors for their continued support: West Coast Paddle Sports, Quickblade Paddles, CarboPro Nutrition, Virus Compression Gear, Sun Bum sunscreen, Puakea Designs, Caveman Granola, and Monster & Sea
PLEASE feel free to share this post!!

Every year the team of Ocean of Hope paddlers train and compete across the sea while navigating waves, wind, and unknown treachery at races in California, Hawaii, Australia and beyond; they are determined to succeed. Similarly, sarcoma cancer patients navigate the unpredictable seas of diagnosis, treatments, and uncertainty. Helping patients to navigate their diagnosis and reach their goals is the mission of the Ocean of Hope, and we cannot do it without your support. Your tax-deductible (EIN# 68-0443045) donation will help maintain our services to those battling cancer. And it is a battle. The team honors those with this rare and deadly form of cancer and assists them to find the guidance, education, support and crucial second opinion grants that they need. The services of the Sarcoma Alliance are free of charge and rely heavily on your generous contribution. Please support the athletes from The Ocean of Hope Campaign who are “dedicated to the sea of people affected by cancer.”
