Dear Colleagues, Friends and Family,
As some of you know, I've been working with an organization named iMentor since 2007, both as a mentor and, for two of those years, as co-chair of its Young Executive Board. The program connects working folks like myself with high school students in low-income communities across NYC.
Here's my favorite stat about the program: In 2011, 83% of iMentor’s 12th graders graduated high school compared to the average NYC graduation rate of 63%. Put differently, students enrolled in iMentor are less than half as likely to drop out of high school.
My first mentee, Ricardo, graduated from the Bronx Academy of Letters high school before becoming the second member of his family to attend college.
Last year, you helped me surpass my fundraising goal of $2,000 by donating $3,335 to the cause. This year, I'm shooting to match the past two years combined by raising $4,120. I hope you'll consider helping me get there!
PS - iMentor is growing so can always use great mentors. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please let me know! You can also find more info here: http://www.imentor.org/become-a-mentor
