Friends and family,
As many of you know, I'm the CEO at iMentor, a mentoring program that provides youth in underserved communities with college-educated mentors who help students develop the leadership, academic, and social skills needed to succeed in high school and college.
What you might not know is that in my non-working hours I also serve as a mentor myself, to a truly amazing young man named Mario. Mario and I have spent the last three years working together. This year, Mario is finishing his HS career at Bronx Prep HS and preparing to make the transition to college. It is an incredibly dynamic time in his life and I am honored to be there to help in any way that I can.
The 2012 Online Donor Drive is about Mario, and the thousands of students like him, who have the potential to do great things. It costs $1,000 a year to support a mentor/mentee pair. So whether you help with $10 or $1,000, your involvement makes you part of a network of individuals making a lasting investment in the life of a high school student.
Thanks to all of you for considering, who already do so much to support me and iMentor.
But why is Online Donor Drive important?
Word of mouth is a powerful thing. The Online Donor Drive is made up of those who, week after week, dedicate their time, passion and support- mentors. The campaign’s “drive” comes from each mentor lending their voice in support of iMentor and the impact the program has. It costs $1,000 a year to support a pair and ensure they have access to quality programming and resources.
So spread the word and get everyone in your network involved in this year’s ODD. It’s not every day that you can say you helped change a life, but today can be that day.
