Thanks for coming out to my iMentor Online Donor Drive page!
What is Online Donor Drive? ODD is a fundraiser iMentor does every year to help raise money and friends to support all the awesome mentors and mentees enrolled in our program in New York City.
Why should you give? Because you’re a kind, compassionate, loving, huggable person J Although that’s true, the real reason is because iMentor helps high school students in low-income communities get on track to graduate high school ready to succeed in college.
How? We match students 1:1 with volunteer mentors and engage them in our curricula so that they gain the skills they need to graduate high school and go to college. And our program works! Every year, a significantly higher percentage of students in iMentor graduate high school and go to college when compared to the average New York City and national rates.
Why is mentoring important? Think about where you would be right now if you never graduated high school and went to college. That’s the reality facing the students we serve. Now think about all the people who helped you get to where you are today. iMentor makes sure every student in our partner school is matched to a mentor. This means that from high school to college, they have the 1:1 support of a mentor who is dedicated to seeing them excel in school and succeed in life.
But I can’t give that much… Times are tough, cash is strapped, and you got bills to pay. The great news is that it doesn’t take a huge donation to make a big impact in the life of a high school student. Here’s my 25 for 25 formula:
Step 1: 25 of my friends (incl. you!) donate $25 = $625 ($25x25)
Step 2: You ask 5 friends to donate $25 = $3,125 (125 friends x $25)
Step 3: Raise a total of $3,750!
Bottom Line: Our support will help 4 students graduate high school, go to college, and have a better future.
But I hate asking friends for money… Yeah, it’s awkward, but… $25 is only 4 fancy Starbucks drinks (tall, not grande). $25 is only 3 lunches on the weekdays (unless it’s Halal, then it’s 5). $25 is only one dinner out on the weekends (with maybe one drink).
In other words, it’s not all that much, so don’t be shy. Every $25 you raise is an investment in the future of a high school student, so I hope you’ll consider giving and getting the word out to your friends, coworkers, family, etc.
