During my sophomore year at St. Lawrence some friends and I were lucky enough to be introduced to the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club (OBGC). The North Country provided me with the best four years of my life, but for some, life in the North Country is much harder. The programs at the OGBC offers a brief reprieve from the harsh realities of life in the Ogdensburg area as employers continue to downsize or leave the area. Ultimately, whether its basketball, computer time, or trips, the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club provides great programs for the kids in the area.
One of these programs is an annual trip to New York City where the kids take in a Yankee game, explore museums, and are exposed to the diverse cultural experiences New York has to offer. Some of the kids that participate in the OBGC programs cannot afford this trip, which for some is the only chance they have to travel outside the North Country.
Our dad loved to travel, and always wanted everyone to get the most out of life's opportunities -- especially educational ones. Therefore, in his memory all money donated to the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club will fund scholarships for area kids to take this annual trip to New York City. Furthermore, any additional funds will provide the opportunity for the group to do an additional activity while in the city. This may include a trip to another museum, an extra sightseeing trip, etc.
Margot and I have been incredibly grateful for the kind words you all have shared during this time, and would be honored by any donation you choose to make in Frankie's honor.
Thank you so much!
Ross and Margot
