Several Oxford children who have great enthusiasm, and are very compassionate, and have a ton of initiative want to help change the lives of others and make the world a better place,…and they are actually doing something about it. They got together and began planning Oxford’s Great Pumpkin Challenge to benefit The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp.
The Great Pumpkin Challenge is an event for the entire community that a few kids from Oxford, CT chose as a way to make a difference in the lives of other children and provide them with an experience they would not normally have due to their serious medical conditions. Someone very special to them has attended The Hole in The Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT, and it has made a big impact. Their friend’s face lights up, and she smiles from ear to ear when she tells them about all the things she was able to do during her time at the camp… and as we all know, smiles are contagious. This group of young caring people would like others to be able to have this very special experience and spread some smiles along the way. This event allows children and adults to carve for a cause and give back while enjoying the holiday. Their goal is to raise $1,000 with the hope that this can become an annual event.
Oxford’s Great Pumpkin Challenge is being held at: Fritz’s Snack Bar located at 72 Oxford Road in Oxford, CT.
Pumpkins will be accepted on:
October 29th and 30th from 6-8 PM
October 31st from 6-9 PM
November 1st from 10 AM-6 PM
Help these kids make a difference by dropping off a carved or decorated pumpkin on the times provided with a suggested donation of $5 per pumpkin. The pumpkins will be lit during the evenings for the community to see them shine!
Come on down and enjoy this fun community event with family and friends, just stop in to say hello to this great group of kids, spread some smiles and help them help others.
Just imagine if more people who feel strongly about a cause actually took the steps to make a difference, what a very different world we would live in. These children are trying to spread some smiles and change the world, one pumpkin at a time. We hope you feel the same and will carve for a cause.
