BENEFITING: Domestic Violence Legal Hotline
EVENT DATE: Dec 04, 2010
My name is Sharrise Sopoaga. The inspiration for me to start this group are my neices Shalana, Kimora and Alamea. Shalana is five, and Kimora and Alamea are two. I cannot imagine either one of them being victims of domestic violence. I pray they each grow up to be strong, motivated and determined individuals.
I have had personal experiences of domestic violence in my life and I am concerned at the lack of strength in the Hawaii domestic violence laws.
The goals for this group are to raise awareness about domestic violence, open teen centers that help the youth of Hawaii learn about violence and teen dating as well as learn to set and realize goals which can help with self-esteem, and lastly to strengthen the Hawaii domestic violence laws.
Domestic violence aid funds have been cut by 30-40% here in Hawaii. We need your help! Domestic Violence is a real issue in Hawaii and nationwide.
Prevention and education, especially with teenagers, are big steps to helping with the problem of domestic violence.
I would like to be able to donate at least $500 to Domestic Violence Action Center (in Hawaii) "Poinsettias for Peace" fundraiser. The deadline to submit bulk orders is November 29, 2010.
Aloha and Mahalo!
