Annual veterinary care costs create tough choices for low-income families. Having to choose between providing care for their pet, or taking their pet to an animal rescue, shelter, or foster agency is stressful. Organization programs help to keep people and pets healthy at home. One Health Family Members are able to provide a forever home and properly care for their pets
One Health Organization currently serves people and their pets living in Cleveland neighborhoods, Cuyahoga County, and nearby areas. Low-income seniors and the disabled with a household income of 200% or less than the Federal poverty level are eligible for membership. The $40 annual membership payment entitles members to vouchers worth up to $250 Low-income households under 75% of the federal poverty level are also eligible for donor paid membership.
Organization also administers the Project Noah Fund. The Project Noah Fund developed by Dr. Brian Forsgren of Gateway Animal Clinic was established to help cover the type of expenses created by ongoing medical conditions for pets. Extraordinary expenses add up quickly. A recent AP-Petside.com poll reported that families whose pets faced serious illness spent more than $1,000 on average. For One Health Family members this can be 5-10 percent of their annual budget. A donation to the Project Noah Fund saves animals.
