BENEFITING: OKLAHOMA FIT KIDS COALITION INC
EVENT DATE: May 28, 2011
Your donation and support will help the Oklahoma Fit Kids Coalition Youth Advisory Council have the opportunity to participate in a ULEAD Challenge Course hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma. The Challenge course consists of team building and a ropes course (low and high elements), along with a healthy and nutritious meal. This event will enhance the development of these leaders through experimental education emphasizing growth in communication, teamwork, trust and creativity. ULEAD will provide them with a unique, fun and challenge experience.
The Oklahoma Fit Kids Coalition Youth Advisory Council is made up of high schools students from across the state of Oklahoma. These young individuals are striving to create healthier environments in their schools and communities by creating awareness around healthy eating habits and providing more opportunities for youth to be physically active. School lunches today do not provide students with the nutrients they need to be healthy and the majority of students are not given the opportunity to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Please help these teens fulfill their dream of creating a healthier, more active Oklahoma for today and future generations.
One in every three children in the United States is considered overweight or obese. This generation of kids is the first expected to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. Many are suffering from serious health complications such as cardiovascular disease, asthma, sleep apnea, Type II Diabetes, and many more. So please take the time to donate to these teens who are out there working to make a difference in the health of our children.
