Ola's trip for an action against climate change
Organized by: Ola Ibiyeye
Hi everyone, I'm Ola (like the Spanish 'hola', lol), and I’m 29 years old. I’ve been a very passionate individual since childhood with an insatiable thirst for nature conservation and protection. A little reminisce on how it all began won't hurt but would not desire to bore you with the entire details when you can't just wait for your favorite TV programme to begin. How can I ever forget the beautiful tiny beetles (insects) I played with as a kid or the unwell grasshoppers I tried on several occasions to treat with injections? Crazy how children think I bet you would say. My love for nature has drawn my career really close to the reality or ‘living’ nature itself. Settling for pure sciences in high school and university further opened up my heart to the beautiful flora and fauna our environment is made of and has indeed endeared me to the many ways these can be protected and conserved. However, environmentally degrading activities by humans in the quest for industrialization and economic development is currently threatening our commonwealth in Nature! In view of this, I decided to join and support a cause where I can lend my voice to the collective actions of like-minded activists to take proactive actions against Climate change to avert the dangers and uncertainty being created for the future generations. This decision saw my joining the WWF Scotland as an Earth Hour Mobilizer in 2012. Also I decided to join the Climate Reality Project this year and I have been selected to participate with other 800 activists in a Climate Reality Leadership Corps Program organized by the Climate Reality Project a network of activists founded mainly to tackle the Climate crisis and this is scheduled to take place from September 28-30 in Miami, Florida, USA. Without further ado, my selection for the Climate Reality Leadership training will no doubt boost my knowledge and equip me with the tools I need to proactively engage in a multidimensional crusade against the climate crisis either locally or internationally. I’m therefore passionately pleading for your assistance and support that would afford me adequate financial ability to cover the costs of travel (round trip and accommodation) to attend this training and also help me achieve if not completely, substantially my climate leadership goals within a year after my training. No amount of donation will be too small or too large to be appreciated. Thank you indeed for taking the time to read through my plea and for your consideration of this request.
