How can a bike change someone’s life? For homeless veterans, and all those facing homelessness in Oakland and Livingston Counties, lack of transportation is a serious challenge. This Giving Tuesday OLHSA is helping homeless individuals go a little farther, and get around a little easier, by providing them with bikes. This will allow a better opportunity to apply for and maintain employment, run errands, get to a shelter or visit an organization to receive assistance. Transportation is often the first and biggest hurdle to achieving a more stable life.
Will you help OLHSA donate bikes to those in need?
Homelessness is very real for people in Oakland and Livingston Counties. Approximately 2,500 people in Oakland County and 644 people in Livingston County were homeless and seeking permanent shelter in 2015. Out of those individuals, approximately 268 were homeless veterans in Oakland County and 26 in Livingston County. During OLHSA’s Giving Tuesday campaign we are seeking donations to purchase bikes for homeless individuals. With your support, we can improve the quality of many lives.
Your generous donation will help us purchase bikes for those in need. If you have any questions, please contact Ashley Yocum, 248-209-2623, firstname.lastname@example.org.
