BENEFITING: NEBRASKANS FOR CIVIC REFORM
The number one need in Omaha’s neighborhoods is more community leadership. Omaha needs more people to step up and be the change they want to see in their community. So.... we're launching a grassroots leadership development program to energize new neighborhood leaders.
We seek to lift up youth and minorities in community leadership positions as they are not typically involved in neighborhood organizing. The fundraising goal of 31,500 is 25% of the initial costs for starting up a program that will help people take the lead in their community.
ONE Omaha (Omaha Neighborhood Engagement initiative) arose out of the need for a neighborhood development organization after the closing of the Omaha Neighborhood Center in 2013.
ONE is focused on strengthening neighborhood engagement and supporting social connectedness through neighborhood initiatives.
Nebraskans for Civic Reform is the fiscal agent for ONE. Representatives of Omaha's six neighborhood alliances became members of the ONE Omaha Advisory Committee along with representatives from the City of Omaha's planning department and mayor's office.
