70,000 Americans between 15-39 are diagnosed with cancer each year. That's one every eight minutes. This is not OK!
The OMG! Cancer Summit is the premiere oncology conference and social networking event for the young adult cancer movement. A program of the I'm Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, the OMG! Cancer Summit, now in its 5th year, has become a pivotal healthcare event that inspires thousands of survivors, caregivers and providers—along with scores of academic, advocacy, research and support organizations—to get organized, build community and unite as one to drive change.
I was diagnosed in May 2009 with Stage 4 Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma. I was 25, recently engaged, and a police officer. Since then I have had chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. While the road to recovery has been long and arduous, I have never lost sight of my final goal. To live a full and productive life post cancer.
The worst part of being a young adult with cancer is the isolation. I was routinely 30 years younger than the patients around me. I searched for a community that would be able to address my unique needs and fears. I found that community in Stupid Cancer. I was blown away by my first OMG! Cancer Summit in 2011. I met some amazing individuals and came away feeling that I wasn't alone. There is nothing like walking into a room with 400 other young adult cancer survivors and feeling like you have a connection with everyone of them. Please help me return for the OMG! 2012 Cancer Summit by making a donation. I know that I have asked for a lot of help in the past, but without your support, I would have never made it through my cancer journey. Thank you for your continued support and everything that you have done in the past. I am truly lucky to have such a supportive network of friends and family.
