This summer, I will be volunteering in Tehran, Iran at Omid E Mehr, a center that helps and empowers disadvantaged young women between the ages of 16-25. Many of the young women at Omid E Mehr were victims of sexual abuse, emotional and physical abuse, drug addiction, and poverty.
Currently the Omid Foundation has two centers in Tehran and helps over 150 young Iranian and Afghan women. The centers provided therapy and even housing to some of the young women as well as acts as a school with vocational training and lessons. Each week, they have various classes and workshops with the end goal of finding a career and to engage actively, positively, and independently in Iranian society. This year is the 10th anniversary of the foundation, and I am so excited to meet and work with these strong, young women who have overcome so much.
I am raising a minimum of $500, all of which goes straight to the centers, and helps make all of what they do possible. The foundation recently opened a second center and with your help we can see that more centers are opened, that nobody is turned away due to lack of funding, and more young women get the support and help they need to have a brighter future. The foundation is registered in the US, UK, and Iran, has an OFAC license, and is tax deductible. Thank you for all of your support!
