“You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a kid a bike, and that’s pretty close.”
At IRONMAN, we understand how life-changing being on a bike can be, as riding calls to the essence of our soul. We are proud to be in our second year of supporting Onbikes, a Tampa-based non-profit whose mission is to provide bikes to foster children within the community.
In 2014, IRONMAN staff raised $4,653- which means that since last December, 47 children have been rolling around Tampa Bay on two wheels smiling from ear-to-ear and feeling the wind flow through their hair on their very first bike. This year, let’s blow our 2014 fundraising amount out of the water to provide 75 kids with that magical feeling we get every time we go out for a ride.
For every $100 raised, another child gets their dream bike and helmet.
These are the pivotal moments where future IRONMAN athletes are made.
Every kid deserves a bike.
Since 2011, Onbikes has provided bikes to more than 1,200 at-risk and foster kids in the Tampa area through their annual Winter Wonderland rides. The 2014 ride alone made it possible to donate over 500 bikes to at-risk and foster-kids, which was the largest donation to date. This year’s ride takes place on Saturday, December 12th at Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa. To secure your ticket for this year’s ride, please visit: http://www.onbikes.org
