One Eagleman - One Hundred Children
March 14, 2017
BENEFITING: Ctc Ten Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jun 11, 2017
The Eagleman 70.3 consists of a 1.2 mile swim followed by a 56 mile bike, capped with a 13.1 mile run. It will be held in Cambridge, Maryland on June 11th.
This August marks the 10th year since my buddy Chris Campbell passed away and one of the last memories I had with him was swimming, biking and running in the Outer Banks to prepare for our senior soccer season at Franklin and Marshall College. On June 11th, my buddy Joe and I are going to be swimming, biking and running for the Eagleman 70.3 and want to remember Chris in a very special way. Did I mention he was a Philadelphia Eagles fan too? :-)
We would like to raise $3,000 to pay for 100 children to enjoy one year of soccer and life-skill programming at the CTC Ten Safe Hub in Khayelitsha, South Africa.
As some of you may know, the CTC Ten Safe Hub, is a turf soccer field and clubhouse that was created in memory of Chris. This field and community have a very special place in my heart as I spent 3 years working alongside community members to develop programs and opportunities that would empower youth with the skills they need to reach their potential. In an area that used to be known for violence, crime has been reduced 44% and local school children have shown a 38% increase in academic results. Over 600 boys and girls now use the CTC Ten Safe Hub on a weekly basis as Chris' legacy continues to thrive.
Join us today in providing 100 children with the opportunity to enjoy a safe place to play and learn!
