This summer, I committed to completing a leadership training which I had been putting off for the past two years. I choose this just as I was moving away from California and returning home to Louisiana, but my heart for my community in Long Beach remains the same. During my 6 years in Long Beach, I was involved with literacy programs, the Rotary club, youth empowerment, and neighborhood clean-ups. As one last parting gift by way of my leadership training, I have elected to raise $1000 for our chosen charity: Lutheran Social Services
Did you know: Nearly 25% of California’s population of young children and youth live in poverty! Many are homeless, hungry and desperately in need of loving care, nourishing food, and a safe place to call home.
Lutheran Social Services
EMBRACES those in crisis, with short-term, emergency services EQUIPS individuals and families, with program resources to help them on their journey EMPOWERS people to break the cycle of poverty, live with dignity and become self-sufficient
During the next two months, my team will be volunteering hours and people-power to update the computer services, support with structural needs of the building, and donate funds so that LSS will be able to restock their diaper, food, and clothing gifts for the Long Beach community.
I hope you will support this goal so that we may all support our local neighbors.
