Dear Family, Friends and Helpful Human Beings;
As you probably are aware, Nepal is currently mired in a deep crisis in the wake of devastating earthquake. More than 5000 are reported to have been killed by the magnitude 7.9 quake, with the numbers continually increasing by the hour, and thousands have been injured. Although foreign aids and helping hands are pouring into Nepal, the relief efforts have been hindered due to bureaucratic difficulties. The need for relief effort uninhibited by bureaucratic intricacies in Nepal is immediate. Hence, I, along with few of my friends (Anup Tamrakar, Niraj KC, Sandeep Wagle), have decided to form a team and raise funds to support victims of Earthquake who are in dire need of help.
While larger organizations are working to provide aid to victims in macro-scale, our campaign “One village at a time – localized relief effort” will be geared towards complementing their aid effort. Utilizing our local contacts in different villages, we plan to focus our aid effort on the problems, which may be less apparent to larger organizations. Our work will focus on designation of a place for sanitary disposal of wastes, distribution of foods for children, documenting potential blood donors, testing the tap water if it is drinkable and connecting homeless victims with their families and friends. By coordinating with the larger organizations relief effort, we hope to make it easier for the victims to access the assistance they need in a timely manner.
Our initial plan is to start our aid effort from Nasika VDC-6, Pular Gaon, Mahendra Jyoti VDC-1, Dhada Gaon that are both in Kavre District. Kavre was one of the hardest hit districts during the quake. Many houses in Pular Gaon collapsed and the village of Dhada Gaon nearly obliterated. Once we reach these areas, we will coordinate with larger organizations’ relief effort, study the damages and determine our plan of action. In order to ensure transparency, we will post pictures and videos of our entire campaign so you can see how your contribution is being utilized.
As our campaign success is largely predicated on the funds we can raise, we sincerely hope that you can contribute to the best of your ability. Every penny and every suggestion from you counts. Nepalese are renowned for their perseverance, bravery and cooperative nature. With the worst earthquake to hit Nepal in years, Nepalese victims’ perseverance has been severely tested and their bravery has wavered. Let us through our cooperative nature help preserve their perseverance and their bravery. Crisis only becomes worse when we fail to act on it. Help us to help Nepalese victims stay strong and bounce back from this crisis sooner rather than later.
You are welcome to join us in this effort by personally flying with us or by donating to help us raise sufficient fund to complete this campaign. If we are able to collect surplus fund, we plan to expand our effort beyond the listed villages.
If you or your friends were able to raise funds and are looking for resources to mobilize those funds, please contact us to discuss the possibility of collaborating with our aid effort.
All funds collected will be made transparent. We promise to show you where your individual contribution is going to end. Keep following this page for updates.
We are monitoring the travel situation in Nepal to decide when to embark on this journey but the campaign starts now. Please SHARE this page to as many people as possible.
