One Educated African Child At A Time!

THE STORY:
My name is Ugo (Pronounced 'Hu-go') and for the past 24 months i have turned the family home i grew up into an early child school which currently has a student strength of Twenty-two (22) young and bright kids.
We have 7 highly trained members of staff (members of the community) who work as Semi-Volunteers ranging from a retired government principal to unemployed but qualified youths. (They are paid stipends).
1. One (1) Headmistress
2. Three (3) teaching staff
3. One (1) Nanny/Caregiver
4. One (1) Security Guard
5. One (1) Driver
Our primary areas of concern before the Easter/ Second term holidays end and students resume schooling by May are-
1. Re-Stocking the library to include new syllabus subjects as prescribed by the government in areas of weaknesses. ($1500)
2. Refurbishment and maintenance of outdoor playground area. Addition of a metal see-saw. ($800)
3. Renovation of old boxroom to create a new learning space (class) for new Primary one (grade one) pupils. Costs include
-paint job,
-partitioning with hardboard,
-furniture,
-learning aids and
-posters.
($1400)
4. 5 desktop computers for teaching pupils computer science in Primary 3 and above. We strongly believe a digital background for our pupils will put them in good stead in a rapidly digitalised world.
- specs. 5units of 2.8ghz + 250gb HDD + 2gb RAM + 14inch TFT screen. $180 each.
($900)
5. The best for last!. New young pupils aged 2-6 will be awarded free tuition and supplies for a full term. (We hope to add more scholarship pupils every year).
They will be nominated by parents and members of the community and 5 lucky new pupils will be selected by a 5 man committee comprising community leaders, school management and a government social worker.
Each schorlarship is worth $600 per child.

We strongly believe that these children deserve a better schooling environment and with your support, we hope to show you the faces of the lucky kids you have helped a secure a bright future.
