Dear Friends and Family,
This June, I am becoming a bar mitzvah.
For my Tikun Olam project, I am raising money for the Peres Center For Peace Sports Program! The Peres Center for Peace brings Palestinian and Jewish kids together using the "values of teamwork and common goals to shared struggles and victories.” I am a passionate athlete and play on numerous sports teams. Playing these sports has taught me a great deal about cooperation, sportsmanship and integrity. The children who participate - Palestinian and Jewish youth - take part in these extra-curricular programs ranging from long boarding, basketball for kids with disabilities to soccer in the "Twinned Peace Sports Schools” and and many of the children come from disadvantaged communities. These programs are very important to me not only because I love sports, but growing up in Israel and seeing the conflict and violence has made me realize that kids my age need an alternative to fighting and hate. On the soccer field everyone participates and has fun no matter what race or religion.
My goal is to raise $6000 to support The Peres "Twinned Peace Sports Schools" Program. This program brings more than 2000 kids from "twinned" communities across Israel and the Palestinian Authority together in extracurricular activities every year. They combine sports activities, which use the "fair play method," and peace building activities to take down barriers and stereotypes between participants, and foster values of peace and coexistence.
Please read more about how the program works at: http://www.peres-center.org/peace_sport
I hope you will join me in helping to make an impact on these kids lives and a better future for Jews and Palestinians!
Any gift would be appreciated.
