Hi! For the upcoming Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 13th, I have chosen to run for a remarkable charity!
One Heart - Many Hands is a non-profit organization that gathers volunteers and resources together to assist those of low-income, elderly, handicapped, and single parent families to improve living conditions through home repairs and community clean-ups. Their mission can range from large conferences scheduled with specific dates to impact an area with hundreds of volunteers to smaller local tasks. The most recent massive project affected the city of Indianapolis during the week of June 16th and for 5 days approximately 1,500 volunteers from many different states helped with 120 planned projects. One Heart - Many Hands is a great facilitator for others to pay it forward and to apply individual skills to serve those in need.
Since volunteering along side with my grandmother for the Indianapolis project, OHMH has grown even closer to my heart! During this precious time I connected with my grandmother in a way I have never witnessed before. To see her love for other people by providing time and service, I saw her more than just my grandmother but as a strong hardworking, caring woman. While working with this organization, not only does it have a positive impact on those selected for assistance, but it touches the lives of everyone involved.
While I work towards this race, any support for the fantastic work this organization is doing to change lives is very much appreciated. To show my thanks and love for those who have partnered with me, I would be delighted to put your name on my race day shirt!
