EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
I am honored to run the Boston Marathon in 2015 on behalf of One Mission, Inc and in memory of Warrior Jude Walz and his brother Thad Walz.
Jude and his brother Thad were born at 28 weeks via emergency C-section on November 19, 2013. These beautiful boys were carried by their Aunt Colleen as their Mom, Marybeth, is a cancer survivor and could not carry them. Sadly, on the second day of Thad's life he was taken to heaven by a pulmonary hemorrhage. Thad's last moments were spent in the perfect spot...his mother's arms.
After Thad's sudden passing Jude fought every day to grow strong enough to go home with his Mom. On January 25, 2014, the day Thad was to be buried, Jude was airlifted to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he was diagnosed with Infantile Fibrosarcoma (a very rare form of congenital cancer).
Jude spent four months fighing harder than anyone I know. His strength and courage brought out so much goodness and he made a difference in a tremendous number of lives. Sadly, on May 22, 2014, Warrior Jude lost his batte with cancer. Jude left the world at 7:04pm while being held in his Mom's arms. Jude and Thad are now reunited in Heaven but their job is not yet done!!!
Together with these sweet angels, I am committed to helping other children battling cancer. Running 26.2 miles will be easy compared to what boys and girls face each day while receiving treatment to try and destroy the monster that is invading their bodies.
Please donate today to One Mission Inc. I promise to do my part on April 20, 2015 but I need your help and so do the over 900 children One Mission helps each year.
One Mission does whatever it takes to help kids fight cancer. We just do it in a different way. Rather than funding long-term solutions like cancer research, One Mission funds programs and services that provide immediate relief from the relentless wrath cancer unleashes every singles day. Programs and services that lift the spirits of patients and thier families, help the healing and recovery process and make life more livable during treatment and hospitalization. These programs include, but are not limited to, music and art therapy, spa days, sports days and holiday parties. One of the most well-received programs by patients is Decorate My Room, which entails the redecoration of patients’ rooms to make it feel more like home. One Mission also funds programs and services for siblings and caregivers, such as sibling outings and yoga and meditation for parent relaxation.
Thank you in advance for your support of our 2015 Boston Marathon One Mission Team and for helping One Mission to brighten the road to recovery for kids fighting cancer and their families. RIP Jude and Thad Walz.
We Got This!!!
