As many of you may already know, the organization that supported us in traveling to Guate in the past 6 years has decided to narrow their scope to the surgery center efforts. This was a needed and necessary shift for this organization, but leaves our students without the ability to further continue trips to Guatemala with Belmont. Tamara Garvey identified the need and decided to create a non-profit organization to fill this gap- thus 'One Sky' was born. Tamara has compiled a board for the organization and the development of this group is well on it's way... But.. we need you!!! You all remember how life-altering a trip like this can be.. We want you all to be involved in this organization and its efforts. We would love for each of you to become a part of this organization, whether it be through fundraising, leading and mentoring in missions trips and/or continuing to foster relationships we have previously created to any degree.
Currently, we are trying to overcome the challenge of funding One Sky so that we are able to officially become a non-profit. We are still approximately $850 short to pay the attorney fees to finalize the paperwork. If each of us were able to donate $5 or $10 dollars each, we would be able to fund this organization and enable others to experience the life-changing adventure that we all once had.
If you are able to contribute a small donation to assist in the funding for creating One Sky, please contact Tamara, myself, or Teresa Vasquez-Terry. Any amount is gratefully accepted and much appreciated!
Please reach out to any other members from past trips to add to this group if any have been left out. We truly want to foster and build upon our past relationships so that we are able to continue taking physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing students from Belmont on mission trips, but also to expand our focus and reach out to our community to further involve the general population in these awesome trips as well.
You are the ones who have stepped out in faith to care for these underserved individuals in Guatemala in the past; let's continue to unite and collaborate our efforts to maximize potential and move some mountains together.
Thank you and God Speed!
NOTE: All donations to One Sky, Inc. are NOT tax deductible until our tax-exempt paperwork is official. We are asking you for help to get our 501 (3) c non-profit status. If we are approved, your donation will be tax-deductible.
