From 12-21 May 2014, I'm walking from Melrose Abbey to Heavenfield near Hadrian's Wall, a total of 243 km/152 miles. The walk follows two long-distance trails in the border region of Scotland and England: St Cuthbert's Way and St Oswald's Way, and passes through a beautiful, diverse and at times remote landscape.
You're very welcome to join me for any stage of this walk. If you can't join me in person, you can follow my journey on Facebook or show your support by making a donation to the Somaly Mam Foundation. This worthwhile cause is dedicated to eradicating the trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and girls in Southeast Asia, and empowering survivors as part of the solution.
Every donation helps. Here are just a few examples of where your dollars could go:
US$20 can buy a school uniform for a young survivor
US$50 can support three nutritious meals with meat, vegetables, and rice for a centre resident for one month
US$200 can support one month of full scholarship and support for a Voices For Change leader in university. This includes tuition, living expenses, and supplementary education.
US$500 can support one month’s worth of health and hygiene supplies for all of the survivors living in a Cambodian rehabilitation centre
