Long Beach Grows’ mission is to promote green, healthy, environmentally sustainable urban agriculture in Long Beach, CA and other activities that educate, enhance, and grow our communities by ensuring and safeguarding local food security.
We are addressing local food security by bringing small scale agriculture back to the city. We are providing people means to grow chemical-free real food locally and affordably to feed their families. We are building a farm co-op where people can grow food together while building community and relieving hunger, one lot at a time.
We offer educational workshops on food-garden-nutrition-related topics, and we provide members and volunteers with opportunities to learn sustainable organic gardening through hands-on experience at LBGROWS Unity Farm.
There are two things that we really could use if we had the money. A greenhouse would definitely increase our productivity. A neighborhood electric vehicle would allow us to be green while growing and distributing more food. Both would increase our capacity to share with the public.
Won’t you please help? Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
