Your donation will support the IIIC by funding the position of a case manager, with a social work background, and refer people to services they need, including legal help. The case manager will serve the 70 or more Central American families already living in the Boston area, who were previously incarcerated in Texas for crossing the border.
Transition to life in the United States can be very difficult whether in the home, the workplace or school, especially when there is a language barrier and when you have fled home and left so much behind. Immigrants fleeing violence in their native countries can find themselves in detention and at risk of deportation. Some struggle with loneliness, depression and substance abuse – some are even at risk of suicide.
Because of you, the bilingual case manager will work to serve the needs of these families, helping them to access available resources and bringing greater stability to their lives. This addition to our dedicated legal and wellness staff will greatly benefit the immigrant mothers, their children, and their husbands, when they are able to reunite. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ronnie Millar, IIIC's Executive Director, at 617-542-7654, ext. 35 or at email@example.com.
