Operation Dastan: Help me get from Iran to the US!
Organized by: Danielle Dwan
Dastan is a dog living in Vafa Animal Rescue (http://www.vafashelter.com) in Iran. He is 2 years old, and came to the rescue as a puppy with broken hind legs. After multiple surgeries, he is now able to walk with some difficulty. Dastan, and dogs like him in Iran are considered "unclean" by Iranian clerical law (https://www.thedodo.com/iran-bans-dog-ownership-803774433.html) and are in desperate need of finding safety and love in forever homes. I studied global health, and during my travels, saw firsthand how dogs are treated in many other countries around the world. I wanted to save them all, but thought it was impossible to rescue a dog from another country. It stirred a passion in me to do something. I have since made it my mission to start an international dog rescue, to make it possible for dogs like Dastan to be adopted internationally. Vafa Animal Shelter (http://www.vafashelter.com) in Iran is doing amazing things, and I have connected with them to partner in getting one dog at a time and finding them a forever home. He will be my first mission, and this process will allow me to experience the international adoption process firsthand. The end goal is to be able to connect people here in the US with dogs from around the world, and to make the adoption process as easy as possible. Your contribution will go directly to Dastan's airfare. He will fly Lufthansa Air on August 21st to LAX, where I will pick him up. Please help me make this possible! Please help me take the first step in making a difference not only in Dastan's life, but in the lives of many more dogs who could be rescued out of devastating situations if people only knew it was possible.
