With a desire to make a positive difference in the life of other people, the varsity volleyball team of Pottsboro High School, Pottsboro, Texas has chosen to join the fight against cancer. Most everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer, and they understand the money that it takes to pay for medical treatments. The girls have chosen a great family in need.Laurie Haynes is a former secretary of Pottsboro High School. She has recently been diagnosed with cancer and will begin chemotherapy and radiation soon.
What makes this especially difficult is that Laurie lost her 24 year old son, Landon McIntyre, to a heart attack in February only to find out that her 26 year old daughter has the same heart condition. After heart surgery and medication, she is doing well. Because of the time-off from work needed during these difficult times, it has created a financial hardship for the Haynes family. Now with the cost of cancer treatment looming, they would be greatly blessed by the Pottsboro Lady Cardinals effort to KILL Cancer!! Team members will obtain pledges for every "kill" they earn during district play. The team will also sell t-shirts of which 1/2 the profits will go to the family. All Operation Kill Cancer donations will go to help this amazing family.
District play will continue through October 23, 2012.
Please join us in our attempt to give back to the community by buying a t-shirt, making a donation or pledge, or just passing the word.Thank you.
