I love to walk Downtown from my apartment often and listen to my music, dancing on the street. I think in order to truly be a loving person and an enlightened individual, we must breakdown our own egos and truly treat others the way we would want to be treated. Homeless people will forever have homes, they just don't have a house with a roof over their head and food on the table. They see the world as their home.
I often talk to these houseless people and offer food and water, but most importantly, I offer love and compassion... something they don't see often from people walking right by them. We have to remember that they are people too. With this I have been inspired to start Operation Warm Hearts. With temperatures dropping, I can't help but cry at night when I walk by the lines of houseless people sleeping under any coverage they can find, often by public service buildings. They are covering themselves with tarps or whatever they can find to cover them, making houses out of whatever scraps and trash they find.
With Operation Warm Hearts, I plan on building No-Sew blankets and delivering them to these people at night. I call it Operation Warm Hearts because having something handmade tells these individuals that they are loved and that people care about them... if that doesn't warm your heart, I don't know what will. With it being the Christmas Season, I couldn't think of a more perfect time to spread love, peace, and joy to our brothers and sisters living on the street who need love too during this holiday season.
To make flannel blankets that are about two yards wide, It is going to cost me $10 a blanket. I would love to try and make about 75 blankets if not more, so I am trying to raise $750 to help make my dream a reality. If there is anyway you can help, myself and I'm sure the houseless people you are helping will greatly appreciate it. If I can out beat my projected goal of 75 blankets, I would truly be the happiest girl this Christmas.
Thanks for your support and God Bless!
