BENEFITING: Bags of Hope, Inc.
The construction of an enrichment center in Guyana's rainforest.. providing a place where education, training, and safe recreation can take place to bring hope to the people of Orealla and self sustainability to this village.
The proposed building is a two-story concrete block building which will house a training center, dormitory, and recreation center. Our goal is to address the following social issues in this village:
EDUCATION—training and teaching skills to develop a sustainable community: Arts and Crafts, Jam-making, hammock making, etc. so that items produced can be marketed and sold outside of the community.
Clean Water- provide, fresh safe drinking water, to these communities in order to combat preventable illnesses, such as worm infestation, diarrhea, etc.
Youth Enrichment Training and recreation center– Teaching young men and women good character traits.. Also, providing a safe place for good, clean, recreation, thereby helping to alleviate the high rate of teen pregnancy in this small village.
Creation of Fish Farms and Cattle Ranches in order to provide a good source of protein for the community. Excess meat and fish will be sold to surrounding communities.
Create safe, green jobs within the community utilizing their natural resources– such as rainforest tours, canoeing, kayaking, zip-lining, etc.
