My friends and I decided to do the Philly Tough Mudder May 20th. In efforts to support each other in our journey to a healthier lifestyle/ fitness goals, we decided not only to reach our individual goals but also to do it for a great cause. We are raising money for OAR. The Organization for Autism Research is led by parents and grandparents of children and adults on the autism spectrum.
A little about autism...
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder impacts the nervous system. Refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. We now know that there is not one autism but many types, caused by different combinations of genetic and environmental influences.

>Treatment can help, but this condition can't be cured.
>1 in 68 children in the US
>1 in 42 boys
>1 in 189 girls
>Estimated 50,000 teens w/ autism become adults--and lose school based austism services ea yr!
>Around one third of people w/ autism remain nonverbal.
>Around one third of people with autism have an intellectual disability.
>Meidcal & mental health issues include GI d/o, seizure d/o, sleep disturbance, ADHD, anxiety, phobias.
