THE STORY:

Chicago Religious Leadership Network On Latin America wrote -

Organized Communities Against Deportations (OCAD) is an undocumented-led group that fights  deportations and criminalization of Black, Brown, and immigrant communities in Chicago and surrounding areas. We fight case by case, person by person, alongside families to create an environment for our communities to thrive, work, and organize with happiness and without fear. Through grassroots organizing, legal and policy work, civil disobedience, and cross-movement building we aim to challenge the institutions that target and dehumanize us and reclaim our collective power.    The money raised through Pedal for Peace would support our day-to day work with undocumented families facing deportation:

  • Paying the cost of the phone to communicate with members in detention
  • Supplies and costs for community workshops and meetings
  • Supplies for rallies and protests against deportations and criminalization

Vision We envision a future without displacement and borders; without incarceration and deportations. A future where people can choose to stay or migrate freely.  A future where our bodies will not be commodified or exploited to fulfill quotas, fill cages, and used to generate profit. We envision a future where we determine the use of resources to ensure our collective well-being.  A future of liberation for indigenous peoples, immigrants, people of color, women, LGBTQI, Black, and all oppressed peoples. A world of dignity and resistance, of transformation, laughter, and love.
