BENEFITING: UNIVERSITY REHABILITATION ALLIANCE, INC.
I began volunteering at Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center just over two years ago; last summer I participated in 180 hours of student internship there as well. During my time at Origami I have had the privilege of becoming acquainted with the staff, the residential and outpatient clients. I have become familiar with the client care, their schedule of activities and the services they receive. I have learned so much about brain injuries and the impact they make on the lives of so many wonderful and unsuspecting people; the sobering fact is that brain injuries not only devastate the lives of the injured but their family members as well and it can all happen within just a matter of seconds. I have met some of the most wonderful loving people and have also witnessed some heart-felt success stories that I can only describe in one word – amazing. My experience at Origami has taught me so much….so much more than I ever learned from research, instructors or expensive text books. It has given me a whole new perspective on life. I would now like to return those blessings by reaching out to those of you who may be able to help support this wonderful rehabilitation center and make a difference for those whose quality of life and independence are at risk and ultimately create hope and success for many who are today, hopeless and lost. Please consider making a difference, even a small contribution can bring a ray of hope to someone special and their beloved family members.
