It’s hard to believe that it’s about to be six years since our mother, Reana Greenfield, passed away. An inspiration to all who knew her, she never let her cancer stand in the way of helping as many people as she could. She understood that just one person can make a difference in the world, and she did exactly that for the 41 years she was with us. Although she was involved in helping people from every walk of life, her efforts were strongest in raising money to help with the wedding costs of financially disadvantaged orphans. Our mother understood that it is certainly painful enough for children to get married without their parents, and if she could help to make the day any easier, she must. Over the course of her short life, she single-handedly raised enough money to marry off over one hundred and fifty orphans. Since her death, we have tried to continue her legacy of raising money to help make the wedding day a happier one for those who have lost parents. Each young couple receives a check of $1,500, to defray the cost of getting married and starting their new home. In memory of our mother, we would like to try and raise $30,000 on Thursday, August 4th, Reana Greenfield’s 6th yartzheit. We hope that in the zchus of helping to marry off 20 orphans, we will be paying a small tribute to the powerhouse that she was, and we will make her proud.
