BENEFITING: Seeds of Peace, Inc.
ORGANIZER: Seeds of Peace, Inc.
EVENT: Bridges to Peace Global 2014
As you may know, two summers ago I worked for an organization called Seeds of Peace, which works to bring together youth from regions of conflict in a neutral setting - namely, a summer camp on a lake in Maine. This fall, members of the Seeds of Peace community will cross bridges all over the world in recognition of the efforts Seeds are making towards peace, and we are asking for your help to help spread awareness of their incredibly valuable work.
Seeds of Peace gives teens from regions of conflict the rare and often impossible opportunity to meet "the enemy." At camp, they get to know each other not as citizens of a certain country, statistics, casualties, or supporters of a particular belief, but as teammates, role models, partners, and friends - in short, as individual human beings. In just three short weeks I saw campers break down social barriers, learn to see the world from another point of view, and most importantly, how to listen.
So as I said, I'm asking all of you to join the Seeds community and either donate or spread the word today to help contribute to a cause that means a lot to me. I don't care if you give $10 or $50, if you give in US Dollars or Euros or Zloty (no fictional currencies plz!). What's important is that you support and spread awareness about the work Seeds of Peace is doing. Thanks everyone!
About Seeds of Peace:
In the face of some of the world’s most intractable conflicts, Seeds of Peace gives rise to new generations of leaders uniquely inspired and equipped to build lasting peace.
Treaties are negotiated by governments; peace is made by people. Since 1993, Seeds of Peace has set the standard in international peace-building by providing exceptional young people and educators from regions of conflict with an otherwise impossible opportunity to meet their historic enemies face-to-face at our International Camp in Maine.
We build on their extraordinary and critical relationships and understanding through year-round local programs that focus on the core leadership capacities needed to advance peace. There are now over 5,000 Seeds and Educators from 27 countries who prove that solutions exist, peace is possible, and there is reason to have hope for a better future.
