BENEFITING: Houston Aphasia Recovery Center (HARC)
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2017
Do you know someone who has suffered a stroke or brain injury? Do you know what Aphasia is? Aphasia is an inability to comprehend and formulate language because of damage to specific brain regions. This damage is typically caused by a cerebral vascular accident (stroke), or head trauma, however these are not the only possible causes.
My friend, Richard W. McCaine suffered a stroke 6 years ago and it was at that time that I became aware of all the wonderful things Houston Aphasia Recovery Center (HARC) does for patients just like Richard.
On October 29th 2017, I will compete in my first half IRONMAN in memory of Richard Walter McCaine and his father, Walter Johnson McCaine. The McCaine family and their company, Alloy have supported many great causes over the years, and now it’s my turn to give back! This race will be long and the hardest of my life, but I will be thinking of Richard and Walter as I cross the finish line.
Alloy has generously agreed to match any funds that I raise in support of HARC. I just can’t say enough about HARC’s wonderful volunteers and staff. I recently visited the center and received the warmest welcome – cheers, and being introduced to the patients as their IRONMAN athlete! I am honored to represent HARC and help to raise money for such an important cause.
Please join me in my support of HARC as I compete in October. It’s easy to spread the word!
I am asking you to help me with "Your Journey Your Cause" for HARC.
Please donate and spread the word, "Aphasia".
