BENEFITING: Peter and Paul Community Services
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2017
While working to accomplish a goal on my bucket list (a half Ironman), I'm asking for support in working to end homelessness in the St. Louis area. Peter and Paul Community Services has several programs in the St. Louis area to support the homeless in their physical, mental, emotional needs.
This is a wonderful organization with great people. C, a truly amazing singer, is now living with his new wife and enjoying time with their newborn son. A former drug addict, B, got straight As when earning on his Associates degree, and is now in nursing school and is living independently. C is now living on his own and drives an awesome party bus (let me know if you need a party bus hook up!!). Hope is restored, compassion is shown, and independence is becoming a reality.
There are so many ways to care and serve. Donations are key to keeping the programs running to best serve our neighbors in need, and to end homelessness in the St. Louis area. I would greatly appreciate your support! There are also many opportunities for volunteers. Let me know if you ever want to go to the shelter and hang out with the guys and talk or play Uno or spades. This is truly one of the most joy-filled places I've been.
Donations at all levels have a direct impact on ending homelessness in the St. Louis area:
$2,500 will pay for over 7,000 hot showers at the Allen Avenue emergency shelter or the Biddle Housing Opportunities Center emergency shelter, which collectively provide 160 beds to homeless men. They are open 365 days/year, providing meals, laundry, showers, lockers, and case management.
$1,000 will provide one month of Substance Abuse Counseling for 15 men and women at the Garfield Apartments Program.
$500 will pay for one month of emergency housing for one person at our Allen Avenue emergency shelter or Biddle Housing Opportunities Center shelter, ensuring an individual is off the street and in a safe environment.
$250 will provide 10 Health Education Workshops for HIV+ men and women in our Positive Directions program.
$100 will pay for two months of bus passes for one of our transitional housing residents, enabling them to interview for jobs, keep doctor’s appointments, visit family, and attend school. It can also pay for community garden supplies and horticulture education for the 25 residents of the Garfield Safe Haven.
$50 covers the cost of art supplies for the nationally-recognized Community CollaborARTive, serving clients and alumni of all Peter & Paul programs or the annual cost of gear for one player in the Peter & Paul street soccer team, the St. Louis Roadies.
If you have any questions, please email IRONMAN@CrowdRise.com and they'll help solve everything. Thank you so much for your support!
