THE STORY:

Hidden Valley Music Seminars wrote -

TO PROTECT THE SUSTAINABILITY OF OUR INSTITUTE AND OUR CHERISHED CARMEL VALLEY, WE ARE RAISING FUNDS FOR A NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM.

Hidden Valley Music Seminars is a non-profit educational institute for the arts nestled in the Santa Lucia foothills in Carmel Valley, California. For 54 years, Hidden Valley has been training extraordinarily talented young artists in the fields of music, dance, theatre and opera.

Each year, Hidden Valley hosts hundreds of artists and guests from around the world for master classes, chamber music, dance, orchestral programs, teacher training, opera production and various art-related programs. Hidden Valley provides students with housing, dining, practice, rehearsal and performance facilities. As our programs have grown, so has our need for more space.

In 2015, we thoughtfully planned, designed and found funding for a campus expansion plan, allowing us to better accommodate our work in structures that seamlessly fit into the campus’ existing landscape and architectural character. Construction began with the beautiful Dance/Rehearsal Studio, which was completed in August of this year. This past July, we shared our plans with the County who provided enthusiastic and constructive feedback regarding our project.

The County’s most pressing focus was the outdated wastewater treatment system, installed in 1972. They pointed out that we have the opportunity to install an environmentally responsible wastewater treatment system. We identified an esteemed environmental engineering firm (Fall Creek Engineering) to develop a plan. Not unexpectedly, the mechanisms and labor costs associated with an environmentally-sensitive system are costly but in spite of the additional financial challenge, our Board of Trustees and staff believe we must try to accomplish this important task.

So, for the sustainability of our Institute and our cherished Carmel Valley, we are asking you to please contribute whatever you can to help us implement this new system and continue our efforts to offer classes and programming of excellence for many years to come.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
