Our Wild Dreams
Organized by: Kaitlyn Dart
Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Dart and I am hoping to raise funds for my project called "Our Wild Dreams". Recently I have stumbled across a large semi-feral-feral (meaning some can be handled from time to time while others only run) cat colony that seems to be mostly young teenagers and kittens. Very few of these felines have been altered (unable to reproduce) meaning this cat colony will only continue to grow! Upon further research I discovered that people were taking their once beloved pets (many of them pregnant teenagers) and abandoning them to this colony (not releasing whereabouts for the safety of the animals and because they trust me). I have decided to take it into my own hands to catch, socialize, have them altered, treated for any medical conditions they may have, and adopted to new loving families as possible. Although it will not be possible for all of them to be socialized and adopted as domesticated house cats, we will instead find those who we can't fully socialize, homes in a safe environment where they can be barn cats and be left alone. This will be a continuing cycle as they are adopted into new homes, we will catch more from the colony and so on so forth. I currently have 9 kittens and cats in my care from this colony ages ranging from 5 weeks to 6 years. As you can imagine the cost of caring for these lovelies is rather high and can no longer come from my own pocket. We are hoping to raise at least $1,000 for cat bottles, carriers, cages, flea shampoo, food, litter, litter boxes, and anything medical that needs to be done including spay and neuter. I have been doing rescue for most of my life an although we are not a 501(c)3 we have done many large groups of fosters that we have rescued from terrible situations over the years. I recently worked and volunteered at an animal shelter which helped me further develop my time management and judgement skills when it came to working with animals. As I mentioned above, I do have 9 felines in my care and only 2 of them are male meaning we have the opportunity to prevent a lot of future mommies with any funds donated! Any and all help is greatly appreciated and we will be posting updates as we go! Thank you from us, to you!
