During this school year students will be using many tools and skills to make detailed observations of birds. The research we are doing to support Project Feederwatch and E-bird Data collection is crucial to the future understanding of how many environmental factors are affecting our bird populations. Thing such as climate change, habitat loss, and other issues impacting birds and wildlife are all important to understand, BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is letting your curiosity and engagement with birds build a compassion and desire to want to make changes to improve and protect our wildlife. We will be doing fundraising such as this to purchase a much needed spotting scope which we use for our photography and detailed observations of birds in the state of Maine. The first thing we will do with a new spotting scope is go look for Snowy Owls, often spotted just off the coast on a small island in Bidderford Maine.
